GEELONG WINE SHOW
HALL OF FAME
2024 Hall of Fame Inductee
David and Lyndsay Sharp
It is with great pleasure that we induct Oakdene’s Liz and Bernard Hooley into the 2025 Geelong Wine Hall of Fame, recognising their significant role in establishing the Bellarine as a premier wine and tourism destination. From their beginnings in 2001, the pair transformed a rundown Grubb Road property into a unique hospitality icon, famous for its quirky upside-down cellar door and 5-star Halliday-rated wines. Their commitment to excellence is evidenced by the consistent trophy-winning success of their benchmark wines—most notably the Premier’s Trophy win for Liz’s Chardonnay—and their continued investment in the region through their expansion to Quiddity Place and the Hidden Frog restaurant at Mannerim.
We recognize these impressive achievements and support to the Geelong Wine Industry, and induct them into our Geelong Wine Show Hall of Fame.
Wine Geelong would like to thank Gail Thomas for her thoughtful, moving speech and for all her work in putting this year’s Hall of Fame together, year in, year out.
Additionally, Gail Thomas has an written an article in the Spring issue of Geelong & Surf Coast Living magazine featuring the 2025 Geelong Wine Show and Circulus Wines while in the upcoming Summer issue of the magazine she has penned two features, one on Oakdene’s new Quiddity Place and another on Sam Murray’s Oneday Estate.
Please make sure to look out for these in the coming editions.
